NMSU AND UTEP BORDER STUDIES CENTERS PRESENT MOVIE NIGHT


The Center for Latina American and Border Studies at New Mexico State University and the University of Texas El Paso Center for Inter-American and Border Studies will present movie night at 3 p.m. Nov. 4 at the Nason House.

The event will feature the film "Hispaniola: An Island Divided" from the series "Black in Latin America." James Starling, UTEP professor, will present a brief talk before the movie.

The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.

TOURNAMENT OF BANDS COMES TO NMSU

The New Mexico State University Pride Band and Music Department will present the thirty-fourth annual Tournament of Bands from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Nov. 5 at Aggie Memorial Stadium.

NMSU MUSIC DEPARTMENT PRESENTS 'NMSU CHOIRS GO BAROQUE'

The New Mexico State University Department of Music will host two concerts Nov. 11-12 featuring alumna and internationally acclaimed opera star Kirstin Chavez beginning at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 11 at Atkinson Recital Hall.

The Baroque program will introduce excerpts from Gluck's opera "Orfeo ed Euridice." NMSU Choirs also will join Chavez during some of her performances.

NMSU HOSTS MARIACHI CONFERENCE STUDENT SHOWCASE

The Las Cruces International Mariachi Conference will return to New Mexico State University Nov. 11-13, beginning with the Student Showcase at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 11 at the Pan American Center.

Student mariachi groups, vocalists and folkloric dance groups will audition for the opportunity to perform at the Mariachi Conference. Selected groups and individuals will perform in front of an audience of more than 5,000 peers, family members, friends and the community.

ART GALLERY HOSTS MEOW WOLF

The New Mexico State University Art Gallery will host the Santa Fe-based artists' collective Meow Wolf for a five-week installation of an immersive art experience. The campus community is invited to visit the gallery while the work progresses, and to get involved if desired.

The opening reception will be Nov. 30, but everyone is welcome to join in the creativity during the installation to prepare for the opening.
