NMSU PRESENTS AGGIE KINDNESS DAY


New Mexico State University will host Aggie Kindness Day on Thursday, Feb. 9, for participants to execute random acts of kindness in honor of Emily Lein, a student who passed away last November.

Aggies can sign up at the information table in front of Taos in Corbett Center from Monday, Feb. 6, through the day of the event and receive a button showing their participation. The acts of kindness can be large or small and impact an individual or a group. Ideas can be found at the information table, but creativity is encouraged.

Participants are requested to submit photos, quotes, and feedback from their Aggie Kindness Day experience on the Housing and Residential Life Facebook page at www.facebook.com/NMSUHousing.

HISTORY DEPARTMENT CONTINUES IMMIGRATION SPEAKER SERIES

The NMSU Department of History will continue its speaker series titled "Arriving in America: The Challenge of Immigrants and Minorities in Modern American History" with Matthew Jacobson, of Yale University. Jacobson will speak on "Race, Immigration, and Citizenship in the United States: The Irish Experience as Racial Odyssey" on Tuesday, Feb. 7, at 7:30 p.m. in the College of Health and Social Services auditorium.

ART DEPARTMENT HOSTS LECTURE WITH ART HISTORIAN

The NMSU Department of Art is sponsoring a lecture by the art historian Jonathan D. Katz on Wednesday, Feb. 8, at 6 p.m. in the College of Health and Social Sciences auditorium, Room 101. The lecture is open and free to all students and the public.

Katz curated the first major U.S. museum exhibition dedicated to themes of sexuality and gender titled Hide/Seek: Difference, Desire and the Invention of Modern American Portraiture in 2006. The show originally opened at the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C., and is currently on view at the Brooklyn Museum in New York. Katz is currently the chair of visual studies doctoral program at SUNY-Buffalo.

AGGIE ATHLETICS PRESENTS MEN'S AND WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

Women's Basketball will face Nevada at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 4, at the Pan American Center.

Men's Basketball will face Louisiana Tech at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 4, at the Pan American Center.
