Draft of free-speech policy available for comment

A free-speech task force at New Mexico State University is seeking comments on a draft of a university policy regarding freedom of expression on the main NMSU campus.

The draft is available on NMSU's World Wide Web site at http://www.nmsu.edu/~ucomm/Releases/fsdraft.html.

The task force is asking that comments on the proposal be submitted by noon Monday, Dec. 11.

The nine-member task force was appointed by NMSU President Jay Gogue to prepare a proposed policy by Dec. 15. The proposal will be reviewed by the NMSU Student Senate, Faculty Senate, Advisory Council on Administrative Policy, and Administrative Council before the president makes final recommendations to the NMSU Board of Regents, possibly at the March meeting.
