NMSU's Pete's Place gets an extreme makeover, becomes 24/7 haven for students

What once was just a gaming and computer lab area for students at New Mexico State University now has a whole new look and a different approach to serving students' technology needs.

Pete's Place, located on the second floor of Corbett Center on the NMSU campus, will have a grand re-opening on Thursday, Feb. 16 from 12:30 - 2:30 p.m. The re-opening ceremonies will feature a ribbon cutting at 1 p.m. by Associated Students of NMSU president Austin Graham. Pistol Pete will also be on hand to celebrate the renovation and free refreshments will be available.

The new look includes a wireless lounge area and 24/7 computer lab as well as the Aggie Fitness Center. Like NMSU's other wireless lounge at Jacobs Hall, the new Pete's Place lounge includes movable furniture to provide flexibility to accommodate groups of students or individuals.

"The change is the result of requests from our students and the NMSU information technology student survey," said Shaun Cooper, NMSU associate vice president and chief information officer. "We have worked in partnership with NMSU's student government, the student technology advisory committee and auxiliary services to reinvent Pete's Place."
