Emily Bosland, a sophomore majoring in marketing and French at New Mexico State University, has been awarded the Peirce and Barbara Hubbard Scholarship. In addition to being recognized as a Hubbard Scholar, Bosland will receive a $1,000 scholarship for the spring 2001 semester.
Hubbard Scholars are selected based on their dedication, leadership and commitment toward service to NMSU and the local community. Bosland serves as president of NMSU's Kiwanis Group and has been actively involved in the community through the Salvation Army and Jardin de Los Ni¤os.
The endowment for the award was established by students and friends of Peirce and Barbara Hubbard of Las Cruces in commemoration of the Hubbards' service to NMSU and the Las Cruces community.
Bosland, a 1999 graduate of Las Cruces High School, is the daughter of Paul and Judith Bosland of Las Cruces.
