NMSU Aggies to show their pride in Roswell

New Mexico State University President Barbara Couture, along with the Roswell Alumni Chapter, will host a reception from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, at the New Mexico Military Institute J. Ross Thomas Reception Room, 101 W. College Blvd.

With more than 2,100 New Mexico State University alumni in the Roswell area, the Aggies are excited to reconnect with their alma mater and learn what's new at NMSU from Couture.

Aggie fans also are invited to meet Marvin Menzies, coach of the Aggie men's basketball team, who won the WAC Championship this year and played in the NCAA tournament. He also will attend the reception.

One of the local organizers, Patricia Matchin, said she is hoping to get in touch with other Aggies in the community.

"I have discovered that the only Aggies I know are my family members, and whenever I meet alumni around town it is a surprise to me. That's when I realize how much I enjoy reminiscing about my college years," said Matchin, who graduated from NMSU in 2002. Matchin, an assistant professor of English at New Mexico Military Institute, is the final family member of six Matchins to attend and graduate from NMSU.
