Blake, a retired anthropology professor at NMSU, passed away March 15 after recently celebrating his 81st birthday.

"He is an important part of the history of this department, and there is not a corner of the state of New Mexico where you cannot run into someone who had some contact with Brad Blake when he was director of the museum," said Lois Stanford, an associate professor of anthropology in the College of Arts and Sciences.

"He was a wonderful raconteur, and his stories were legend," Stanford said. "Those students lucky enough to have classes with him remember his field stories and great wit."
