Financial aid resources for New Mexico State University students available online

The Office of Financial Aid and Scholarship Services at New Mexico State University offers students a new way to access their information -- online.

s can access forms, check their financial aid status, accept loans and get access to other resources from any computer with Internet access.

This year's deadline to apply for any of the General Endowed Scholarships at New Mexico State is midnight, March 3. Only one application form is required for these scholarships. The selection process will begin during the summer and recipients will be notified by mail at the beginning of the fall 2003 semester or earlier. Students are encouraged to check with their specific colleges for additional scholarship information.

For federal financial aid, the priority deadline for students to file the 2003-2004 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is March 3. Students who apply by this deadline will have priority consideration for supplemental grants and work-study funds.

For the 2003-2004 academic year, all students applying for state financial aid, including the Lottery Success Scholarship, will be required to complete the FAFSA. Any student enrolling in a college or university in New Mexico after May 2003, including transfer students, will be required to complete the application.

The new requirement was established by the New Mexico Commission on Higher Education and it will not affect students already involved in the program who remain continuously enrolled at their initial institution.

Students who need assistance completing the FAFSA or need access to the form on the Web are encouraged to visit New Mexico State's Student Resource Center. The center offers Internet access and peer counselors are available to guide students and answer general questions. It is located in the Educational Services Building Room 6 and is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
