The two-week Aggie Welcome and Orientation event will continue with a free screening of Marvel's "The Avengers" at 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, on the International Mall; ASNMSU's Thick as Thieves Concert at 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26, on Corbett Center Student Union Outdoor Stage; the NMSU Band's Concert on the Green at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28, on the CCSU Outdoor Stage and more.

Aggie Football will host Sacramento State University in its season opener at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30 at Aggie Memorial Stadium. Freshmen are encouraged to check-in with their ID at the northeast gate, next to the giant Pistol Pete for a chance to walk out onto the field during the pre-game and be a part of a class picture in the stands. Students can also win prizes, receive giveaways and free food. The game will be aired on AggieVision.

Aggie Volleyball will face Cincinnati University during the NM State Tournament at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31, at the Pan American Center. Drake University will also face Northwestern University at 4 p.m.

Tickets are now available for the NMSU Cultural Series featuring Ethel and Robert Mirabal on Sept. 7, Canteca de Macao on Sept. 20, Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys Nov. 15, H'sao Jan. 24, Nation Beat Feb. 7 and Dala on March 7. All concerts will begin at 8 p.m. at NMSU Music Center's Atkinson Recital Hall located at 1075 N. Horseshoe.

Single event tickets are $10 for NMSU students or $15 for adults and can be purchased online at http://bit.ly/N3oLG9. Season tickets can be purchased for $81 and are available at the Pan American Center Ticket Office. Additional fees may apply. The NMSU Art Gallery's summer exhibition, "Thinking New Mexico: A Centennial Exhibition," concludes Sept. 1. A celebration of the centennial of New Mexico statehood (1912-2012), this exhibition will showcase artwork from each decade of statehood and survey the best in contemporary New Mexico art.
