Conference to showcase student and faculty research

The statewide New Mexico Alliance for Minority Participation program will hold its annual Student Research Conference for students and faculty in science, technology, engineering and mathematics degree programs at New Mexico State University's Corbett Center on October 5.

The conference is a forum for STEM students, instructors and industry professionals to share information, ideas, experiences and advice. Students will present their research in both oral and poster formats, and participate in activities and events that serve as vehicles for student and faculty networking.

Pre- and post-conference activities for community college students will be held on Oct. 4 and 6. In addition, approximately 100 high school juniors and seniors will attend the conference with the New Mexico Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement program (NM MESA). Rounding out the day is the NMSU University Research Council annual research fair featuring faculty research in poster format, held each year in conjunction with the New Mexico AMP Conference.

New Mexico AMP is funded by the National Science Foundation with the support of the New Mexico Legislature. For more information or to register for the New Mexico AMP Student Research Conference, go to http://www.nmsu.edu/~nmamp/ or contact Cheri Coffelt at 646-1847.
