Laura M. Conniff of Las Cruces was elected president of the New Mexico State University Board of Regents at a special meeting Monday.
Steve Anaya of Moriarty was elected vice president of the five-member board. NMSU student Felicia Ybarra was elected secretary-treasurer.
Conniff, who previously served as vice president of the board, replaces board member James C. Manatt Jr. of Roswell as president.
The Board of Regents is the governing body of New Mexico State University, the state's land-grant university, which has more than 24,000 students at the main campus in Las Cruces and two-year branch campuses in Las Cruces, Alamogordo, Carlsbad and Grants. Members are appointed by the governor and confirmed by the state Senate.
