Symphonic Winds and Symphonic Band to perform in "Marches for March"

New Mexico State University's Symphonic Winds and Symphonic Band will perform in "Marches for March" at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 16, on the Firkins Outdoor Stage at the corner of University Avenue and Espina Street.

nt, Ken Van Winkle and guest conductor William Clark will direct the concert program, which will include songs such as "Washington Post," "Stars and Stripes" and other music performed in the old-fashioned outdoor concert band tradition.

Tammy Jenkins, accompanied by Symphonic Winds, will sing Aaron Copland's Old American Songs, including "Simple Gifts," "I Bought Me a Cat," "The Little Horses," "Zion's Walls," "At the River" and "Ching-A-Ring Chaw."

Blankets or lawn chairs are recommended. A free ice cream reception, sponsored by Prices Creameries, will follow the concert.

Tickets are $7 for adults and $4 for students and can be purchased at all Ticketmaster locations, the band office or at the door. In case of inclement weather, the concert will be held in the Music Center Recital Hall.
