Luna County Cooperative Extension Service to offer homemade solar electricity course

Enrollment is now open for the popular Homemade Solar Electricity course offered by the New Mexico State University Luna County Cooperative Extension Service.

Participants will be introduced to the specialized vocabulary of solar electricity, plus how to harness the sun's energy to pump your well, power part or all of your house or small business, save money on household energy expenses and make your electric meter spin backwards - or remove it from your life altogether.

The course will be offered from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursdays from Feb. 28 to March 28. A field trip to local solar installations is scheduled for noon Saturday, March 30.

The cost of the course is $50, which will cover the cost of books and handouts. The class is limited to 12 participants; to register for the course or for more information, call Luna County Cooperative Extension Service at 575-546-8806.
