Tribal leaders to participate in public forum

he impact of Indian gaming will be among the issues discussed at a Tribal Leaders Forum to be held at New Mexico State University on Thursday, Nov. 29.

lic forum is scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m. in the Corbett Center Auditorium.

American Indian student organizations at the university are sponsoring the question-and-answer forum in honor of National American Indian Month, which is observed in November.

Invited tribal officials include Milton Bluehouse Sr. of the Navajo Nation; Malcolm Bowekaty, governor of Zuni Pueblo; Bernie Teba, executive director of the Eight Northern Indian Pueblos Council; State Rep. James R. Madalena, Jemez Pueblo; and Perry Martinez, governor of San Ildefonso. The panel will discuss important issues confronting American Indians.

Admission is free. Sponsors are the United Native American Organization, American Indians Science and Engineering Society, the Native American Business Student Association and the American Indian Program at New Mexico State University.
