Award-winning author featured in Visiting Author Series

Fiction writer and essayist Michael Martone will be featured in La Sociedad para las Artes' Fall 2001 Visiting Author Series Friday, Oct. 26. The author will read from his work at 7:30 p.m. in New Mexico State University's Hardman Hall Room 106.



Fiction writer and essayist Michael Martone will be featured in La Sociedad para las Artes' Fall 2001 Visiting Author Series Friday, Oct. 26.

Martone, of Tuscaloosa, Ala., is a professor of English and creative writing at the University of Alabama.

His book, "The Blue Guide to Indiana," was published in August. Other books of short fiction by Martone include "Seeing Eye," "Pensees: The Thoughts of Dan Quayle" and "Fort Wayne is Seventh on Hitler's List." His book of essays, "The Flatness and Other Landscapes," was published in 2000 and won the Associated Writing Programs Creative Nonfiction Award.

JodiAnn Hathaway, a graduate fiction student at New Mexico State University, will open the reading. Hathaway is the former recipient of a Frank Waters Fiction Lectureship and winner of a Keith Wilson/Joe Somoza Poetry Prize.
