'"La Catrina con Vino y Tapas,' represents the heart of our community that is rich with history, culture, art and hope for a better tomorrow," said Cristobal Rodriguez, assistant professor of educational leadership and policy in the Department of Educational Management and Development in the College of Education. "Part of that bright future is through the support we provide our students, which this scholarship fundraiser accomplishes like a filled wine glass of dreams and hope."

La Catrina Quartet is the string quartet in residence in the College of Arts and Sciences at NMSU. Their unique blend of Latin-American and standard repertoire has proved enormously entertaining for its diverse audiences, catering to the more traditional concertgoers while also attracting the next generation of listeners. Their infectious personalities infuse their playing, creating truly compelling performances.

Faculty members in the quartet are violinists Daniel Vega-Albela and Roberta Arruda, cellist Cesar Martinez and violist Jorge Martinez-Rios.

Tickets can be purchased through Aug. 29, in Room 235 of Garcia Annex, or online via credit card at https://shopcart.nmsu.edu/shop/chipro. Proceeds from the event will benefit the HFSC scholarship endowment fund at the NMSU Foundation.

The HFSC scholarship endowment fund has awarded more than $60,000 in more than 40 scholarships since its inception. It is intended to help support full-time students at the main campus who maintain at least 3.0 GPA and have financial need.
