Fiction writers to be featured in Visiting Author Series

Award-winning novelist Alexander Parsons and New Mexico State University graduate student Rus Bradburd will be featured in La Sociedad para las Artes' Fall 2001 Visiting Author Series Friday, Oct. 19. The authors will read from their work at 7:30 p.m. in New Mexico State's Hardman Hall Room 106.


dburd, a master of fine arts candidate studying fiction, will read first. Bradburd was formerly the associate head men's basketball coach at New Mexico State and has had several articles and essays published in publications such as the El Paso Times, the Las Cruces Sun-News, the Border Review and Chicago's Heartland Journal.

Parsons was born in London and has lived most of his life in New Mexico. He studied fiction as a graduate student at New Mexico State.

His first novel, "Leaving Disneyland," won the 2000 AWP/Thomas Dunne Books Novel Award and will be published this month. He lives in Austin, Texas.
