Barnes & Noble at NMSU will continue the popular Open Mic performances through NMSU's Winter Holiday, from 5 to 8 p.m. Fridays, excluding Friday, Dec. 27. To sign up to perform, contact bncafe@nmsu.edu.

Open Mic is free of charge and open to the public. Free parking is available in designated spaces. Barnes & Noble at NMSU is located at 1400 E. University Ave. For more information, call 575-646-5822.


Classic rock legends, Styx, will perform live at NMSU's Pan American Center at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15. Doors will open at 6 p.m., with the opening act scheduled to begin at 6:45 p.m.

Ticket prices range from $25-$35, plus applicable fees, and are available at the Pan American Ticket Office, all Ticketmaster outlets, charged by phone at 800-745-3000 and online at ticketmaster.com/venue/98676/.

"An Evening with Styx" is presented through NMSU Special Events and the American Collegiate Talent Showcase. The Las Cruces Convention & Visitors Bureau and NMSU are looking for a local band to open for the Jan. 15 Pan American Center performance of "An Evening with Styx." To enter, bands must submit a 3-5-minute demo of their ensemble by Friday, Jan. 3. Entries will be reviewed and finalists will compete for the grand prize during a special performance and voting on Friday, Jan. 10, at Hurricane Alley in Las Cruces. NMSU Men's Basketball will take on Northern New Mexico College at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21. Santa Claus will be present to visit with all the kids, and donations for Toys for Tots will also be accepted; adults who bring two unwrapped toys will receive a discounted $5 ticket. All children 12 and under will receive free admission

NMSU Men's Basketball will face University of South Alabama at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, during Las Cruces Parks and Recreation Night. Children 12 and under will receive free admission. Adult tickets will start at $8.

NMSU Women's Basketball will take on Grand Canyon University at 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, during their Western Athletic Conference opener. Children 12 and under will receive free admission. Adult tickets will start at $6.

NMSU Men's Basketball will face Seattle University at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, and University of Idaho at 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, during the team's first Western Athletic Conference games of the season. Tickets will start at $8.

These events will take place at the Pan American Center on the NMSU campus.
