Expert Background

Steven M. Elias earned his PhD in applied social psychology in 2001 from Colorado State University. Currently, Steven is Interim Associate Dean for the College of Business, as well as Head of the Department of Management, at New Mexico State University. He is interested in several areas of organizational behavior, with his primary research revolving around managerial influence, social power, self-efficacy, job attitudes, and deviant workplace behavior. His research has been published in the Journal of Management, Journal of Management History, Journal of Applied Social Psychology, Journal of General Psychology, International Journal of Organizational Analysis, Social Influence, Journal of College Student Development, and Southern Business and Economics Journal. A past member of the Journal of Management editorial board, Steven is currently on the editorial board of the Journal of Organizational Behavior, Human Resource Management Review, Journal of Applied Social Psychology, and PsycCRITIQUES. Steven is also the editor of Deviant and Criminal Behavior in the Workplace (2013, NYU Press).
