Campus community invited to hear about future developments at NMSU and surrounding areas

The NMSU campus community, along with the greater Las Cruces community, is invited to a public meeting from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, July 29, at the New Mexico Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum, 4100 Dripping Springs Road. The meeting will include three separate presentations about future developments on the NMSU campus and surrounding areas.

Scott Eschenbrenner, president and CEO of Aggie Development Incorporated, will present the NMSU East Campus Development Plan. Wayne Savage, executive director of Arrowhead Park, will present the Arrowhead Park Master Plan. And, Glen Haubold, associate vice president for facilities and services, will present the 2017-2027 NMSU Master Plan for the next decade.

After the presentations, the public will be invited to visit with the individual presenters to provide comment regarding the presentations from 11 a.m. to noon.

Starlight Theatre Company to present performances in July at NMSU

The Starlight Theatre Company of Las Cruces will hold seven performances of Gilbert & Sullivan?s comic musical "HMS Pinafore, or the Lass that Loved a Sailor" from July 15 to 23, in Atkinson Recital Hall in the NMSU Music Center. The musical comedy glitters with witty, exuberant music and sharp social commentary about life aboard Queen Victoria?s famous ship.

Would you love to sing along to your favorite HMS Pinafore songs? Starlight invites you to this special sing-along matinee, at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 23. Lyrics will be projected above the stage, or bring your own vocal score or choral book. HMS Pinafore choral books are available for $5.95 from Amazon.com.

Red to Green Money Management Workshops to be held next week

A Red to Green Money Management Meet-Up will be from 10 a.m. to noon, Tuesday, July 19 in Garcia Annex, Room 207. Stop by to grab some great resources on budgeting and financial aid. You can also find more information on workshops or schedule a one-on-one appointment.

Retirement celebration for Josie Jimenez set for July 26

The Office of Grants and Contracts and the Vice President for Research would like to extend a special thank you to Associate Director Josie Jimenez for 25 years of dedicated service to NMSU, and wish her the best of luck in future endeavors. A retirement celebration is scheduled from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 26, in the large conference room of Anderson Hall. If you plan to attend this special gathering, please be sure to bring your photo ID as Anderson Hall is a secured facility.


'Dr. Seuss on the Move' performance slated for Aug. 6

The NMSU Dance Program is proud to present "Dr. Seuss on the Move." Please join us for a family-friendly, fun-filled production at 2:30 and 7:30 p.m. Aug. 6 at ASNMSU Center for the Arts. Roberts Memorial Staff Award nominations are being accepted

Nominations are currently being sought for the Stephen W. and Robert E. Roberts Memorial Staff Award. The year the award will be presented to a Non-Exempt Employee who meets the criteria listed below.

Eligibility Criteria: 1) Nominees may not be faculty members, nor can they be a member of either the Administrative Council or the Academic Dean?s Council. 2) Nominees must have five (5) or more consecutive years of service with the university. Depending on the award cycle, the selection criteria alternates between non-exempt staff or exempt staff. For 2016, the Roberts Award will honor a non-exempt employee.

In addition to the requirements above, employees can be nominated based on the following traits:

A highly motivated person who is a self-starter.
A person who exhibits dedication to the university.
A person who will remain at the university after receiving the award and serve to influence others through behavior that exemplifies sincerity, motivation and dedication.
A person who not only performs a specific job, but who also serves the university and community as a responsible citizen.
2016 Guidelines: The Nomination form, with no more than five (5) pages of supporting information, should be received by the Center for Learning & Professional Development by email (gsmart@nmsu.edu) or at mail code MSC 3TD no later than Aug. 12, 2016.
