NMSU engineering benefactor creates eight scholarships

A newly endowed scholarship in New Mexico State University?s College of Engineering will provide tuition support for eight additional civil engineering students, thanks to a gift from one of the college?s longtime benefactors. Ed Foreman, who earned his civil engineering degree from the college in 1955, established the Ed and Barbara Foreman Endowed Scholarship with a $100,000 gift during NMSU?s inaugural Giving Tuesday fundraising event in December.

August Employee Council meeting to be held Aug. 11

The Employee Council will hold its regular monthly meeting from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Aug. 11, at Milton Hall Room 85. All employees are welcome to attend. The meeting is also broadcasted live on Adobe Connect. Employees can watch and participate via Adobe Connect at http://nmsu.adobeconnect.com/employeecouncil2015/.

'The Greatest Hits' to be held Aug. 13

NMSU Contemporary Dancers along with New Desert Harmony Singers will present "The Greatest Hits!" at 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, in NMSU Atkinson Recital Hall. All seats are general admission.

'Rocky Horror Picture Show' fundraiser event

The American Southwest Theatre Company will present the ?Rocky Horror Picture Show? (the movie) beginning at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19, at the new ASNMSU Center for the Arts with shadow cast, costume contest and prizes.

Tickets are available at the door starting at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 19 and are $10 for main floor general admission with prop bag included, or $5 for the balcony. Prop bags are not permitted in the balcony (homemade prop bags are not permitted in the theatre).

The American Southwest Theatre Company is a non-profit organization that benefits the NMSU Theatre Arts students.

Plants and frozen green chile are now on sale

Ornamental chile plants are for sale at the Chile Pepper Institute. Assorted varieties available 4? for $2 and 6? for $4. They also have frozen roasted and peeled green chile on sale. NuMex Sandia Select heat level is hot, 10 chiles per bag for $5 per bag. They are located in Gerald Thomas Hall Room 265.

3-D modeling class still has space for the fall

Learn the basics of 3-D modeling and animation in this 3-D Modeling class. Modeling and Animation will be held from 6 to 7:40 p.m. Monday and Wednesday. (CRN #41725, CMT 160 D01) You don?t want to miss this class, which is a prerequisite for more advanced 3-D modeling courses in the spring.
