NMSU expects more than 1,000 grads at fall commencement

More than 1,000 students are projected to participate in the fall commencement ceremony at New Mexico State University at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at the Pan American Center.

Commencement activities will begin Friday, Dec. 9, with a doctoral hooding ceremony at 7 p.m. at the Pan American Center. NMSU will recognize Pat and Lou Sisbarro as the honorary degree recipients during the ceremony. They will speak to the doctoral degree candidates following their hooding.

'Tamale Confidential' to air today

It?s tamale season. Learn how to make delicious tamales this holiday season by tuning in from 1 to 2 p.m. today, for the "Tamale Confidential" on Voice of the Public on 90.7 FM and http://krwg.org.

We?ll discuss the art of making and most important, eating delicious tamales this holiday season. You can call in with your tips or questions to our tamale expert, Juan Morales, president of the Santa Fe Grill. He?ll share his grandmother?s tamale recipe and tips for making great tamales.

The show will be live-streamed on KRWG's Facebook page so you can see our tamale experts make the tamales live on the air. All calls and social media questions will be entered into a drawing to win a $50 gift card courtesy of Lowe?s Pay and Save and Fiesta Foods to make your own tamales and a gift card from the Santa Fe Grill. NMSU's School of Social Work Holiday Angel Tree has angel tags available

NMSU's School of Social Work, Family and Child Welfare Training Project is needing your support. We have 55 angel tags from our annual Holiday Angel tree that still need to be claimed.

We are partnering with Children, Youth, and Families Department (CYFD) to make the holidays brighter for local children who receive services from CYFD.

Play SCRABBLE! Promote Literacy! Sunday

Literacy Volunteers of Doña Ana County (LVDAC) announces that its monthly Play SCRABBLE®! Promote Literacy! will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, at Thomas Branigan Memorial Library 200 East Picacho Ave. in Las Cruces. The $3 donation to play gets you at least one, but probably more games of SCRABBLE and it all goes to LVDAC to buy supplies for their students. Players of all skill and competitive levels are welcome.
