Environmental Education Center hosts environmental webinar Thursday

The Environmental Education Center, located at Regents Row A116, will host a webinar screening from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday, May 11, titled ?Restoring the Carbon Balance." Paul Hawken, a scientist, author and activist about climate action, talks about re-carbonization rather than only de-carbonization and that 2 degrees Celsius is a number and not a goal. The real goal is "drawdown" of ambient CO2, which is also the point of our three-part webinar series, "Restoring the Carbon Balance," hosted by Arizona State University.

For each solution, the authors describe its history, the carbon impact it provides, the relative cost and savings, the path to adoption, and how it works. Preview the solutions on the Drawdown website. Hawken has written seven books including four national bestsellers "The Next Economy," "Growing a Business," "The Ecology of Commerce" and "Blessed Unrest." On April 18, the new book, "Drawdown," edited by Hawken, will be out (joni will have a copy of the book to show on Thursday). The book is the result of a several-year effort that maps, measures, models and describes the 100 most substantive solutions to global warming. Join us to get answers to these questions and more. For more information, contact joni newcomer at 575-646-7563 or newcomer@nmsu.edu.
