'Off the Wall' exhibition opens this month at the University Art Gallery at NMSU

The NMSU University Art Gallery presents ?Off the Wall,? an exhibition inspired by the minimal wall drawings and sculptures of Sol LeWitt. This two-part exhibition will both trace the history of Sol LeWitt's relationship with NMSU, as well as show the extent of his influence on a new generation of artists who use the surface of the wall as their canvas. Starting Aug. 29 artists, assistants and students will begin a public installation process - creating works constructed directly onto the gallery walls. Part performance, part exploration into practice and exhibition design, this group show will create a conversation revealing the intricate actions employed when creating a minimal art work.

Events include an Installation reception at 5 p.m. Aug. 29, ?Off the Wall Banner Project? official opening reception at 5 p.m. Sept. 11, Nathan Green Artist Workshop at noon Oct. 24, and Plaque & Restoration Reception at 5 p.m. Nov. 6.

Gallery talks with Judith Braun will be held at 6 p.m. Aug. 29, with Marisa Sage at 6 p.m. Sept. 11, with Veronica Roberts at 6 p.m. Sept. 25, with Nathan Green at 6 p.m. Oct. 23 and with Silvia Marinas at 5 p.m. Nov. 6.

For more information or to arrange a group visit, go to the gallery website at uag.nmsu.edu, or contact Valerie Amendola directly at 575-646-2545 or artglry@nmsu.edu.

VALIC offers mutual fund investment options on 403b, 457b plans

A new website with information regarding the mutual fund investment options being offered by VALIC is now available. The website will provide information as well as the link to create the new mutual fund account, either under the 403b or the 457b. Employees will be able to access the site from the Benefit Services website at http://benefits.nmsu.edu/retirement/for-employees/retire-plans/. The link will be available by clicking on the name VALIC under the ?Vendor Options? list toward the bottom of the page.

All new enrollments will have the mutual fund investment options only. All current and past participants in VALIC?s plans through NMSU will have the following options: convert all existing assets to the mutual funds as well as any future contributions, leave all current assets in the annuity contract and send future contributions to the mutual fund platform or leave everything under the annuity investment platform.

Once the decision has been made to change contributions to the new mutual fund investments, participants will not be able to contribute to the annuity platform in the future.

Questions can be directed to Benefit Services at benefits@nmsu.edu or to the local VALIC representative, Phillip Bennett, at Philip.Bennett@valic.com.
