Ag Day set for Aug. 28 with activities for all

For the second-consecutive year, the New Mexico State football team?s season opener will coincide with Agriculture Day as the Aggies face the Cal-Poly University Mustangs at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, at Aggie Memorial Stadium. There will be plenty of activities to keep the family occupied before kickoff such as horseback riding, chile roasting, peanut roasting and tailgating. The Ag Day festivities will take place in Parking Lot A, just north of the stadium from 3-6 p.m.

Relaxation Room in Branson Library to open today

The Relaxation Room in Branson Library, Room 127, will open today. The room is brought to all NMSU students, faculty and staff by the Counseling Center, WAVE and Branson Library for free. The hours are from noon to 5 p.m. Monday, from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday. Enjoy two massage chairs, relaxing music and sounds, biofeedback and a calm space to de-stress.

Printer and copier toner recycling program up and running again

The Office of Sustainability is again collecting used printer and copier cartridges for its toner recycling program. You can recycle your used copier and printer toner cartridges in the recycling boxes in your department. Empty cartridges can also be dropped off at the Environmental Education Center, at the northwest corner of Regents Row, Room A101.

Teaching Academy Teaching to hold storytelling presentation and book signing

A Teaching Academy presentation by New Mexico State University management professor David Boje, "Teaching with Storytelling," will be held from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, in Milton Hall, Room 50. To register, visit teaching.nmsu.edu or call Serena Duran at 575-646-2204.

Boje will also sign copies of his book, "Storytelling Organizational Practices; Managing in the Quantum Age," at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Barnes & Noble Bookstore in the Salon Room.

NMSU Dance Program to hold auditions, offer lessons

DanceSport Club and concentration auditions will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, at Rentfrow Gym on the NMSU campus.

Contemporary Dance Theater and contemporary concentration auditions will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29, at Rentfrow Gym on the NMSU campus.

Sol Y Arena Flamenco Company and Spanish dance concentration auditions will be held Friday, Aug. 29, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. in Activity Center Rm. 229.

Free partner dance lessons given by NMSU DanceSport Team will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, at Rentfrow Gym on the NMSU Campus.

Social Security representative to present at NMSU

A representative from the El Paso Social Security office will present information on social security retirement benefits on the NMSU campus Aug. 29. Information regarding the location and time of the presentation is on the Benefit Services website at benefits.nmsu.edu/retirement/preparing/. Employees not able to attend the presentation will be able to view a recorded version of the presentation on the same website above approximately one week after the presentation.

Student Success Center workshop to be held Sept. 3

A workshop, "College Survival: Basic Training for Students" will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, in Zuhl Library Conference room, 225 second floor. New to the whole college scene? Not so new, but unsure what it takes to be a successful student? Come and learn valuable information about transitioning to college life. Become aware and avoid common pitfalls college students face.

DACC Community Education courses available

In the DACC Community Education course "Get Ready to Write your First Book," learn techniques for getting in touch with your book idea and getting it out onto the hand-written page or computer screen. The class will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 8 to Oct. 13. The cost is $39.

The DACC Community Education course "Young Rembrandts Cartoon Drawing" combines Young Rembrandts? innovative, step-by-step drawing method with light-hearted subject matter that engages children, their sense of humor, and their vivid imaginations. Learning to draw can be fun, especially when we create silly characters, funny expressions, and drawing sequences that tell a joke. For children ages 6 to 12. The class will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 6 to 27. The cost is $49.
