Libbin named interim dean of NMSU?s College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences


Longtime New Mexico State University administrator and faculty member James D. Libbin has been selected as interim dean of the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences.

?Dr. Libbin has performed admirably as the associate dean and director of academic programs in the college, and it was clear from the feedback that I received that he has strong support within the college for assuming this interim position,? said Executive Vice President and Provost Daniel J. Howard. ?I look forward to working with Dr. Libbin, and everyone in the college, to further strengthen the college in the year ahead.?

NMSU doctoral student to attend Harvard leadership institute

A doctoral student enrolled in New Mexico State University?s College of Education will attend a Harvard institute this summer to enhance his leadership skills.

Roberto Lozano, who is majoring in Educational Leadership & Administration, will attend the 2015 Improving Schools: The Art of Leadership summer institute, which is offered through Harvard?s Graduate School of Education.


NMSU's College of Education to host 'Night of Discovery'

Residents of Las Cruces and members of the New Mexico State University community are invited to learn more about the College of Education during its first ?Night of Discovery? event.

?There are so many great things happening in the College of Education,? said Kelley Coffeen, the college?s assistant dean for advancement.

Alumni and friends of the College of Education are expected to attend the event and hear from Dean Michael Morehead, who will retire at the end of next month. He has served NMSU and the College of Education for 23 years.

The event will be from 6 to 8 p.m. June 25 at La Posta de Mesilla, 2410 Calle de San Albino in Mesilla. Hors d?oeuvres will be provided. Attendees are asked to RSVP by June 22.


GM dealership extends support to NMSU engineering program

Las Cruces General Motors dealership, Sisbarro Buick/GMC has become a familiar presence on the New Mexico State University campus, often within the engineering complex supporting various student outreach efforts, most recently in support of the summer College of Engineering Pre-Freshman Engineering Program.

General Motors has a long-standing relationship with the NMSU College of Engineering through the Partnership for the Advancement of Collaborative Engineering Education (PACE).

Over the last 14 years the NM Ag Leadership (NMAL) program has served New Mexico by identifying and providing leadership development opportunities to more than 90 men and women in the food, agriculture and natural resource industries so they could become stronger and more effective in their industries and communities.
